The adapters are basically little metal feet that fit onto the bases of your dungeon walls and doors. These feet each contain a small but very powerful magnet. The end result: super stability for your Bendy Dungeons on any magnetically receptive surface. Works great on our Magna-Map Combat Grid, or on your regular battle map (with a piece of sheet steel under it). You may want the following tools for this procedure: Hobby knife Old toothbrush Super glue Paint Marker or paint and brush Step One: Clean off Flash Using a hobby knife or other tool, clean off any small pieces of metal (known as flash) left over from the casting process. NOTE: Speed Holes As a side effect of casting such thin pieces, some of the adapters may have small holes in the bottom plate. These do not impede the functionality or the appearance of the pieces (the bottoms will be between the wall pieces and the table, after all), and including the pieces with these minor defects features allows us to keep production costs low. Step Two (Optional): Wash the Adapters If you plan on gluing the adapters to your walls or painting them (see below), it is a good idea to wash them first with some warm water and mild soap or detergent. An old toothbrush can be used to gently scrub them. This will get off any mold release powder that may still be on the pieces, and allow both the glue and the paint to stick better. Step Three: Put the Magnet in the Adapter You’ll note that the adapters have a little magnet-sized impression in them. Carefully (so as not to pinch yourself or have the magnet fly back to the others) separate a magnet off from the rest of them, and place it in one of the adapters. Step Four (Optional): A Dab of Glue If you would like to glue your adapters to your Bendy Walls, use just a tiny amount, and place a dab of it close to the middle, right on either side of the magnet. Be careful, if you use too much, the wall piece will push it all out when you slide it together, and it will get messy. Step Five: Assembly Note that one end of the adapter is slightly longer with a slightly more acute angle than the other side. This side should be assembled so that it is on the same side as the ‘post’ side of the Bendy Wall piece. (the other side should therefore be on the ‘clamp’ side). Simply slide the wall piece into the adapter from one side. The little lips on the edges will reach over the base of the wall, and hold it firmly in place. They usually grip the wall pieces pretty good, which is why glue is optional. Step Six: Repeat Steps 3-5 54 more times. There ya go, almost done! Step Seven (Optional): Paint If you like, you can now paint the adapters black so that they will match the bases of the Bendy walls. There’s no need to paint the bottom, just the edges. Either use a small brush with some black paint, or use a broad-headed black paint marker to get the job done quick and easy. Since you’ll generally handle the pieces by the Bendy Walls they are attached to now, more complicated priming or varnishing generally isn’t necessary. AND THAT’S IT!! Your Bendy Dungeon Walls set has now been magnetized. They will provide a superior play experience on any magnetically-receptive gaming surface, such as the Magna-Map Combat Grid. They will also work great on any regular gaming map or mat, if you just stick a piece of sheet steel (available from your local hardware or home improvement store) underneath.
